Asthma

What is Asthma?

Asthma is a common lung condition that causes occasional breathing difficulties.

It affects people of all ages and often starts in childhood, although it can also develop for the first time in adults.

There’s currently no cure, but there are simple treatments that can help keep the symptoms under control so it doesn’t have a big impact on your life.

Symptoms

The main symptoms of asthma are:

● Wheezing (a whistling sound when breathing) ● Breathlessness ● A tight chest, which may feel like a band is tightening around it ● Coughing

The symptoms can sometimes get temporarily worse. This is known as an asthma attack.

Several conditions can cause similar symptoms, so it’s important to get a proper diagnosis and correct treatment.

Your GP will usually be able to diagnose asthma by asking about symptoms and carrying out some simple tests.

Treatments

The main types are:

● Reliever inhalers – used when needed to quickly relieve asthma symptoms (salbutamol) ● Preventer inhalers (steroid) – used every day to prevent asthma symptoms occurring ● Some people also need to take tablets.

Causes and triggers

Asthma is caused by swelling (inflammation) of the breathing tubes that carry air in and out of the lungs. This makes the tubes highly sensitive, so they temporarily narrow.

It may occur randomly or after exposure to a trigger. Common asthma triggers include:

● Allergies – to house dust mites, animal fur or pollen, for example ● Smoke, pollution and cold air ● Exercise ● Infections like colds or flu ● Identifying and avoiding your asthma triggers can help you keep your symptoms under control

    Ventolin HFA (Salbutamol) Overnight Inhaler

is a fast-acting, reversible asthma inhaler. It is designed to be used as a quick-relief inhaler or as an inhaler for exercise. When used as part of a comprehensive exercise program, it helps to keep your lungs clear of asthma symptoms for up to 24 hours after the inhaler is taken. This can reduce the intensity of symptoms and help prevent exercise-induced bronchoconstriction, which can make breathing more difficult.

For more information on how Ventolin HFA (Salbutamol) Overnight Inhaler is used, see.

Ventolin HFA (Salbutamol) Overnight Inhaler – Side Effects

When used as part of a comprehensive exercise program, Ventolin HFA (Salbutamol) Overnight Inhaler can help to reduce the intensity of asthma symptoms and make breathing more easier for people with asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). These side effects may occur within a few days, but it is important to note that Ventolin HFA (Salbutamol) Overnight Inhaler is not a preventative measure.

In a recent study, researchers found that people using Ventolin HFA (Salbutamol) Overnight Inhaler had less side effects compared to those not using the inhaler. This may be due to the drug’s slower onset of action (it takes 30-60 minutes to have a dose) compared to a normal person’s use. However, this study also showed that the side effects occurred with a relatively low frequency (usually less than 1%).

The incidence of side effects can vary depending on the dose and the type of use and may range from mild to severe. For example, one study found that those who used Ventolin HFA (Salbutamol) Overnight Inhaler experienced fewer side effects compared to those who were not using the inhaler. However, these side effects were more common in people using Ventolin HFA (Salbutamol) Overnight Inhaler, and the side effects were less frequent in people who were not using the inhaler.

The side effects are rare and may be reversible if you stop using Ventolin HFA (Salbutamol) Overnight Inhaler and contact your doctor for advice. If you need emergency care, call 911 or get a call to your local emergency number.

If you are prescribed Ventolin HFA (Salbutamol), you should be aware of the potential side effects.

You will need to have a doctor’s appointment to discuss your asthma or if you are allergic to any beta2-adrenergic agonist (see Section 4.5). If you have asthma, your doctor will also advise you on the use of your inhaler if you have asthma.

You should not use your inhaler if you have been prescribed Ventolin or another beta2-adrenergic agonist.
